Tigers get physical Tuesday at practice
Looking to bounce back after the first loss of the season, Auburn was back in action Tuesday for a full-contact workout.
Head coach Gene Chizik sensed a lack of focus in the days leading up to last Saturday's 44-23 loss at Arkansas. He challenged his team to turn it up a notch this week.
Apparently, they got the message.
"Today was a great practice, very physical," linebacker Josh Bynes said. "Coach Chizik wanted it. The offense was going against the defense at the beginning of practice setting the tone. The scout team was even physical.
"All you heard all practice were pads clacking, everybody was getting after it. It's been a long time since we've heard things like this since the beginning of the season."
Auburn's offense was held to a season-low 375 yards against the Razorbacks. Offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn said turnovers, penalties and a lack of execution all contributed to the poor showing.
Malzahn was pleased with the improvement he saw Tuesday.
