AUBURN -- The news Saturday night wasn't exactly flattering for the Tigers, but tailback Tre Mason was afforded a moment in the sun.
The Auburn sophomore rushed for 82 yards, which pushed his season total to 1,002. That's an impressive feat considering the team's overall inability to execute - from start to finish.
"I was trying all season," Mason said. "With all the guys up front, it's a blessing to have a line in front of you like that. (Fullback) Jay Prosch also is a blessing. I just tried my hardest to get (those) 1,000 yards."
NO COMMENT: Auburn's 3-9 season has prompted a wave of speculation about coach Gene Chizik's future on the Plains.
Though he's signed through the 2015 season with a $7.5 million buyout clause, his fate currently rests in the hands of university president Jay Gogue. The two men, along with athletic director Jay Jacobs, are expected to chat during the next 48 hours to discuss the program's direction.
That conversation could end with a termination.
Still, Chizik declined to address the situation Saturday night.
"I'm not going into the job situation. This isn't about me," he said. "I'm not going to entertain any of those questions. Any time you're in a 3-9 season, it's hard to stand up here and say there were a lot of positives. We went south collectively as a team."
